Bad Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had just arrived at the Millennium station and asked the ticket representative for information to get to Wheeling Illinois. The agent informed me that I needed to walk blocks to Union Station.

Upon my arrival I was informed by another agent that the service doesn't go to Wheeling on the weekends.

I then had to catch a CTA train and spend an additional $30 for an Uber from Ohare. If ahe would have taken the same amount of time to review the schedule as she did talking to another employee I could have avoided and unfortunate delay

Racist and ignorant conductors, disgusted

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Racist, ignorant and rude. Your staff is so god damn ignorant it’s disgusting.

A male and female, white and black, where visibly abused and taken advantage of on my train, and I’m absolutely sick. Their train was delayed an hour, as was mine, why at 10:40, only god knows... however after asking their conductor on how to get reimbursed for their late train so they could ride the next, they were treated like absolute trash, after their previous conductor, Steven, said they could ride free, the next women conductor gave them extreme attitude, so much so I had to step in, a White female, to defend them. This is SICK.

They are not trashy, your god damn service and conductors are. Call me about compensation now or I’m opening a small claims against your racist and biased service, social media will love this as I have full video.

Your service is just absolutely revolting, and I have yet to receive a single call back from these *** “complaint” forms?!

Posting this here since they blocked me on twitter and won’t respond to me... they’re *** and deserve to be shut down permanently, however too many people are dependent on them....

TLDR: their infrastructure is literally collapsing, service is absolute *** I

Horribly Rude Conductor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This conductor on the MDW Line, a heavyset Latino man, is rude and harasses customers on a daily basis. I’ve seen him berate people on numerous occasions for not having their tickets out on time or not sitting down when there were no visible seats available.

I’ve had to set him straight for being disrespectful to me in the past simply because the Ventra app wouldn’t launch on my phone but today took the cake. I was at Elmwood Park stop as I began to walk across the crossing when the gates started coming down. I looked to see which direction the train was coming and it turned out to be my train pulling into the depot a tad bit early. I was already inside the gates at this point so I waited for the train to completely stop and walked across.

As I began to board I seen a woman run across the crossing behind me. I didnt think anything of it but that’s when I heard a man screaming at someone. It was this same conductor but I assumed he was yelling at the woman for running across the tracks. I boarded and sat down, before we even got to the next stop the conductor entered the car and began yelling and pointing at me.

I had my headphones on and said are you talking to me? He said yes and ordered me to come and walk towards him so I asked him why? He accused me running across the tracks and I said that’s not what I did. I told him that I have worked in the industry for two decades so I know what I’m doing.

He said well then you should know that you can’t do that. I said okay fine it’s been noted and walked back to my seat. Well that wasn’t good enough for this guy because he began shouting at me again in front of all the riders on the car. I told him that he was unprofessional and he told me to get off if HIS TRAIN.

I couldn’t believe he was kicking me off over this so I said you know enough is enough, I’m reporting you to Metra because you’re constantly badgering customers and being rude and aggressive. He said here I’ll give you the number, I said I don’t need it I have it on my phone right now. I walked off the train without hesitation and he laughed at me then gave me the middle finger and said *** you”. I was in disbelief, so I immediately called metra and made a report and they told me CP would contact me on Monday.

Seriously, how can CP or Metra employ someone like this? I’m sure this isn’t the first time he’s been reported either.

Embarrassing service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

All rush hour trains are standing room only with many in stuck in unheated or nonfunctional cooling cars. Stop being cheap and put the right amount of passenger cars on.

Delays are almost daily- broken engines, cars, signals and switches. The cars are all antiques.

No improvements in 60 years. This is a sad part of Chicago’s lack of good public transportation.

Conductors on Powers Trips

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Milwaukee North Line 7:43 from Grayslake which really left at 7:50 typical. Not my usual train but it shouldn't make a difference.

Put my monthly pass on seat clip. Conductor staring right at it. After 10 mins., I put it away. Few minutes later he's standing over me demanding ticket.

I told him I showed it already. He said I didn't so I showed it again. He stood next to my seat staring at me until the next stop.

*** Most conductors I've encountered are on power trips. Sir Top on Hat could teach them a few things.

Left my glasses on the train - wont let me back on to get them!??

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Travel in on Metra's BNSF. Been doing it for 20 years.

Have had handfuls of bad experiences. Today may top them all. So, I travel into the city early and today I happened to exit the train in Union Station and soon after realized that I had left my glasses on the seat. I found a conductor outside of the train and explained my predicament.

The conductor would not let me back onto the train to retrieve my glasses. Why? Just to be a horrible human being or was it really due to his statement "That the train has a schedule and we can not let you back on"?

Well - I just wanted to write today to let you know that your staff, Metra is some of the worst. I can not even begin to convey my anger, frustration, and hatred of having to use the rail service.

Never on time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I’ve been traveling on the MD-N line every weekday since April. In my time riding from Grayslake to Chicago the train has never arrived on time - that’s right, not once. Good job Metra.

On the plus side, the conductors have always been alright.

Late, Rude, HORRIBLE Service!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In the first 6 months of 2019, I have been on delayed Metra trains 75% of the time! That's not a typo - 75% of the time, I am delayed!

I pay 100% of my fare and I get 75% of the service for it!

THAT IS NOT RIGHT!!! Metra touts a 96% on-time rate and it is a LIE!

I have tracked my usage and late slips for 2019 and I have been late on 58 out of 234 trips on Metra!

In the first 6 months of 2019, I have endured over 17 hours of delays! At my hourly bill rate, that equals over $4000 lost due to Metra delays!

I PAY $200 A MONTH FOR A TRAIN TICKET, GET DELAYED 25% OF THE TIME AND END UP LOSING OVER $8000 PER YEAR BECAUSE METRA CAN'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!!!

I'M DONE WITH METRA AND I'M DRIVING!!!

Curious Conductor Behavior

Was aboard the BNSF to Chicago (departed Aurora at 7:34 am) when the conductor (an bald African American gentleman who reminds me of actor Terry Crews) came by to collect tickets. I had a one-way ticket (expires Oct 2) that was clipped on the clip above the seat.

I was fully expecting this conductor to simply punch out my ticket and then return the “used” ticket to me. However, he made no genuine attempt to punch out my ticket.

Instead, he simply palm it and then pocket my “un-used” one-way ticket and walked away & resume his ticket collecting round. Was wondering if this is a standard METRA ticket collection procedure?

Scheduled train never shows up

On 7/22/2019 I was waiting for the 7pm outbound train from the Edgebrook station. The Ventra app showed the train was on-time, there were no announcements at the station, I waited until 7:30, an outbound train never showed up.

This is unacceptable, SHAME ON METRA!

Bunch of cursing foul mouthed brats on the train; conductors walk by multiple times do nothing. Next, they stop and joke around with them. Horrible control of your passengers Metra, but I don’t expect anything from this service anymore.

Metra conductors

Do you investigate any of these conductors? Really??

Really/ Shame on you NBC 5/ I can share stories of these conductors in my short 2 years traveling on the MDN. They all should be replaced. They do no work at all and chase after women for $100K per year. Where are you?

Do you not see the women who throw themselves at the conductors? These men are all damaged goods.

Thank you Metra! Please watch your cameras on MDN.You will see the trash we see every day and we are paying a premium for this services.

Guest

TRASH!!!!!

Guest

They DO NOT deserve their salary. Huge Congrats to Metra!

Thank you for installing cameras on your trains!! Please enjoy your cameras on Metra MDN. You can see view what commuters have to deal with on a daily basis and ask yourself, is this professional?

Trash??? WHY?

Guest

No, they do not deserve their salary at all

Guest

Yes, Metra conductos deserve their salary because they have to tolerate people like you on a daily basis. They have to be extremely patient and endure the negativity and attitudes commuters display which is not pleasant.

Also, look at their working conditions. Does Metra consider the health hazards of being near a train or the fumes they breath every day?

They also put in a tremendous amount of hours on a weekly basis. Please show some compassion.

Guest

Getting counseling, pronto. These women are absolutely gorgeous and extremely nice. They are super kind.

Do you realize how India people are telling lies and stealing our education? They may have relatives living in Stevenson/New Trier and using their address. Um, very aggressive, very deceitful, very obnoxious
